Donna R. Cryer, JD, is a nationally recognized leader in digital health and healthcare artificial intelligence, with a current focus on defining the role of patients in AI governance. As Chief Patient Officer of CryerHealth, LLC, she advises technology companies, health systems, and policymakers on building AI that is trustworthy, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.

A two-time founder and 30-year liver transplant recipient, Donna pairs governance expertise with lived patient experience. Appointed by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to the federal Health IT Policy Committee as the advocate for patients and consumers, she previously served on the Committee’s Privacy and Security Workgroup, helping shape national policy on health data privacy, security, and exchange. She has advised Google Health and PathAI, the Boston-based company applying artificial intelligence to pathology to improve diagnostic accuracy and accelerate drug development.


Her board service includes the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) and Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
