Vivian Wong is a professor and the Program Director of the Wound and Ostomy Education Program at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing, San Jose State University.

Dr. Wong created the first and the only Wound and Ostomy Nursing Education Program in the western and central United States in 2014, addressing a critical workforce shortage and rising demand for wound and ostomy care. She established a free, in-person ostomy clinic in 2018, ensuring that individuals, regardless of insurance status, receive expert management, essential supplies, and education. In 2022, she developed a foot and nail course, with extensive outreach endeavors to provide free foot care in the unhoused and vulnerable populations. The program’s impact is scalable through the practice and leadership of its graduates in improving wound care outcomes, preventing pressure injury development, empowering individuals to live well with an ostomy, and promoting foot health throughout their community. Many graduates return as voluntary preceptors to mentor future specialty nurses, creating a sustainable cycle of excellence, service, and leadership.

Dr. Wong holds a PhD from the University of California San Francisco, a MSN from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and a BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington.
