Jacqueline Newsome-Williams is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Washington Area Nurse Practitioner Group, LLC, a multi-site nurse practitioner-led practice serving the Washington, DC, and Maryland region.
Dr. Newsome-Williams has dedicated more than 35 years to transforming nursing education, expanding access to high-quality healthcare, and strengthening the nursing workforce. As a professor, department chair, graduate program director, and principal investigator, she has successfully secured competitive grant funding to diversify the nursing workforce, address faculty shortages, and improve educational outcomes. Her scholarship focuses on nursing regulation, artificial intelligence in nursing, distance education quality, minority health, and health equity. Dr. Newsome-Williams also serves as faculty in psychiatric mental health nursing and continues to advance nursing education, clinical practice, and health policy through leadership, scholarship, and innovation. She has served in executive leadership, academic administration, regulatory and professional organizations, and was the first African American President of the Nurse Practitioner Association of the District of Columbia. Her work has been recognized nationally and internationally.
Dr. Newsome-Williams earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Howard University, and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan, with additional post-master's certifications from the University of Michigan, the University of Massachusetts Boston, and Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, she holds certification in artificial intelligence in healthcare from Harvard University.
