Young "John" Yauger

Young “John” Yauger is the CEO of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation, with a distinguished career as a military nurse scientist, combat anesthesia provider, and leader in nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP). As the former Executive Director of the TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP), he aligned research and EBP with the National Defense Strategy, focusing on care in combat and austere environments. Under his leadership, TSNRP directed over $12 million toward mission-critical research, influencing clinical practices at 29 military facilities worldwide. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and neuroscientist, Dr. Yauger provided independent anesthesia care in combat zones and contributed to research on neuroinflammation and trauma. His research focuses on traumatic brain injury, resuscitative medicine, and anesthesia pharmacology. He also collaborated with DARPA to integrate frontline nursing perspectives into military technology development. Dr. Yauger led large-scale quality initiatives within military healthcare systems and remains dedicated to advancing scientific innovation, health policy, and the future of both military and civilian nursing globally. He earned his PhD in neuroscience and MSN from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and a BSN from Marymount University.
