Xiaolin Hu’s groundbreaking contributions are in the field of cancer care. As the academic director and a professor of nursing at West China Hospital, widely recognized as the premier hospital in China, she has led in key positions, including Vice Chair of Chinese Geriatric Cancer Care and Chair of Nursing Research Committee. She developed the first international postgraduate cancer nursing program in Western China. Dr. Hu has led over 100 training programs, academic conferences, and multicenter research initiatives to strengthen cancer care in China, with a particular focus on underdeveloped western regions. Her leadership extended to six national research projects and the creation of a digital platform to support cancer care training and policies. An innovator, she holds six patents that significantly improve skin and mucosal damage caused by cancer radiotherapy. Her work has been spread to 120 medical institutions in 20 provinces throughout China, greatly improving cancer care access in resource-limited regions and benefiting over 2 million patients. These efforts earned the Second Prize in Scientific and Technological Progress from the government, reflecting her significant contributions to cancer care in China. Dr. Hu received her MS and PhD from the West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University and her Postdoctoral Fellowship from Case Western Reserve University.
