
Wendy Sealy

Wendy Sealy is a full-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus, where she serves as the programme coordinator for both the Master of Science in Nursing and the Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatric programmes. She has made significant contributions to curriculum development, notably designing the course “Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Innovation,” which was approved as an elective for postgraduate students. In addition to her academic role, she acts as a temporary advisor to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), evaluating nursing education programmes across the Caribbean. Dr. Sealy also held leadership positions as a floor member on the Executive of the Barbados Nurses Association and the Nursing Council of Barbados. Dr. Sealy served as the Chief Nursing Officer for Barbados for five years where she introduced the Workload Indicator of Staffing Need (WISN) programmes to the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Her dedication to nursing education and healthcare has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Caribbean Nurses’ Organization Honorary Award in 2014 and the Nurse Educator of the Year award from the Barbados Nurses Association in 2022. She holds a Certificate in Nursing Education with Distinction, a Bachelor of Nursing (Honors), a Master’s in Educational Administration, and a PhD in Educational Policy and Planning, all from the University of the West Indies, along with several other professional qualifications.
