Wendy Lord Mackey is a Senior Lecturer at Yale University School of Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner at Connecticut Pediatric Otolaryngology. Dr. Mackey has advanced the field of pediatric otolaryngology nursing globally for over three decades, through clinical excellence, educational innovation, and transformative leadership. In recognition of the worldwide challenge of antibiotic resistance, she developed and implemented an evidence-based program to reduce unnecessary antibiotics in children with otitis media, significantly reducing antibiotic misuse and unnecessary medical visits. This work has been translated and disseminated globally. She plays a central role in international clinical guideline development amplifying the voice of nurses on the American Academy of Otolaryngology Guideline Taskforce. As an educator, she ensures exceptional pedagogical opportunities through creative and innovative teaching practices. Significant impact was achieved through design and implementation of an Interprofessional Clinical Education Program, providing collaborative learning experiences for over 250 interprofessional healthcare students annually. The curriculum has been shared internationally. As a dedicated member of Society of Otolaryngology Head-Neck Nurses, she has advanced through a succession of roles, culminating to incoming President, leading countless initiatives elevating nursing practice and scholarship. Dr. Mackey earned her DNP and MSN from Yale University and her BSN from Laurentian University in Canada.
