Veronica Amos is the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director at the University of Maryland. She has been instrumental in making the university one of the top ten nurse anesthesia programs and led the team to a 10-year accreditation, the maximum years given from the Council on Accreditation. She is presently the chair of the National Certification Examination Item Writing Committee. This prestigious committee is tasked with writing questions for the nurse anesthesia certification exam. In 2021, she was inducted into the inaugural class of the Fellowship of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. This title is bestowed upon Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology for CRNAs who have demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, education, research, and advocacy. She speaks nationally on diversifying the nurse anesthesia profession. As president of the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, she led the CRNAs of Maryland through successful legislation that positively impacted their profession and the ability of CRNAs to practice to the fullest extent of their education and training. Dr. Amos earned her MS in nursing and Community Public Health, as well as her PhD in Health Policy from the University of Maryland.
