The Honorable Rachel Baker is a State Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives and a Nurse Researcher at TriHealth. In 2022, she was elected to serve as a State Representative in the Ohio General Assembly. In her first year, she served as a primary sponsor on 16 bills -addressing issues such as modernizing the adoption process, establishing the adverse childhood experiences commission, addressing early identification and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, tackling healthcare workplace safety, lowering prescription drug costs, improving access to anesthesia services, increasing access to quality evidence-based care for substance use disorder, and implementing childcare centers for children with complex medical needs. In her second term, she serves as Ranking Member on the House Medicaid Committee, and sits on the Health Committee, Finance Committee, and the Joint Medicaid Oversight Commission. She also serves on the OneOhio Recovery Foundation Board which oversees the use of the opioid settlement funds received by Ohio. Dr. Baker also serves as a Nurse Researcher overseeing a nursing research and evidence-based practice program for a large hospital system in Cincinnati. She has positions as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati and Mount St Joseph University teaching Research and Biostatistics to graduate nursing students. Dr. Baker earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati, master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan, and PhD in nursing research from the University of Cincinnati.
