Tammy Austin-Ketch currently serves as Dean and Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University College of Nursing. In this role, Dr. Austin-Ketch has championed innovative curricular transformations that bridge academic theory with clinical practice, including the integration of cultural humility, telehealth, addictions based primary care, and artificial intelligence into nursing education. Her leadership has been particularly impactful in advancing health equity for underserved populations; notably, she pioneered the implementation of culturally informed telehealth services for the Indigenous People in her region. This telehealth initiative increase access to primary care visits, as well as resulted in improvement of health outcomes for the population served. Her work in telehealth has been cited, replicated and enabled multiple grants to benefit the extension of healthcare to additional underserved populations. Dr. Austin-Ketch’s national service includes influential appointments on committees shaping telehealth best practices and mentoring future nurse leaders to adopt novel care modalities. Her work has consistently focused on dismantling structural inequities and promoting social justice in healthcare. Dr. Austin-Ketch’s educational foundation includes a PhD in Epidemiology and Community Health, an MS and BS in Nursing from the University at Buffalo, and an AAS in Nursing from SUNY Niagara.
