Rachel Prusak

Oregon State Board of Nursing

Rachel Prusak is the Executive Director of the Oregon State Board of Nursing. She is also an elected member of the National Association of Alternative Programs and an appointed member of the Oregon Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Certification Commission. Previously, Ms. Prusak served as a State Representative for Oregon House of Representatives District 37 and held leadership roles in the Oregon Legislature, where she served as the Chair of the House Healthcare Committee. During her tenure, she focused on policies related to public health, the nursing workforce, health equity, and public safety. She played a key role in enacting laws that expanded Medicaid, increased telehealth services, and addressed racism and gun violence as public health issues. Additionally, she was appointed to co-chair the Joint Task Force on the Bridge Health Care Program, which resulted in Oregon becoming the third state to adopt a basic health plan. As a National Health Service Corps Ambassador, she served as a family nurse practitioner in communities across the nation. Her clinical practice includes primary, palliative, and hospice care within long-term care, community health, and home care settings. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner, holding a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Frontier Nursing University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Northeastern University.
