Maya Clark-Cutaia

Inaugural Evelyn Lauder Associate Dean for Nurse Practitioner Programs

Maya Clark-Cutaia is the Evelyn Lauder Associate Dean for Nurse Practitioner Programs and Professor at Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, City University of New York. She leads a $52 million initiative to transform nurse practitioner education by eliminating financial barriers, diversifying the healthcare workforce, and increasing access to high-quality care in underserved communities. A practicing acute care nurse practitioner and internationally recognized health equity scholar, Dr. Clark-Cutaia has shaped national and global discourse through pioneering research on chronic illness disparities, community-engaged education models, and the social determinants of health. She has led and advocated for impactful policy change, including eliminating racial bias in kidney disease diagnostics, and has trained over 100 clinicians and scholars through her Chronic Conditions Health Equity Lab & Coalition. Her leadership has informed national programs such as the Jonas Philanthropies Scholars and the American Geriatrics Society’s disparities curriculum, reaching over 5,000 providers. A U.S. Air Force veteran, she brings a unique lens to addressing inequities affecting historically marginalized and veteran populations. Dr. Clark-Cutaia earned her BSN, MSN, and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and University of Pittsburgh, and completed postdoctoral training in research on vulnerable populations at the University of Pennsylvania.
