Mark Christopher Saslo assumed the role of Acting Assistant Under Secretary for Health for Patient Care Services on July 31, 2022 and sworn in October 2022. He serves as principal executive for oversight of Nursing, Social Work, Caregiver Support, Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Population Health, Whole Health, Physician Assistants, and Rehabilitation and Prosthetics. Dr. Saslo has served as Associate Director for Patient Care Services at Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System since 2014. Dr. Saslo has been a nurse for more than 40 years and has served the Veterans Health Administration for more than 30 years. Dr. Salso has worked in areas including Ambulatory Care as both Nurse Practitioner in Medicine Service in the HIV and Hepatology clinics and Associate Chief Nurse for Clinical Practice in Nursing. Dr. Saslo holds a BSN from Marywood University in Scranton, PA, his Masters from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, and a Doctorate in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Saslo is the spouse, parent, brother and son of veterans who served in every branch of the military and believes the greatest mission is to ensure that the care we deliver should be the care we would expect for our loved ones.
