Maribeth McLaughlin

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

Maribeth McLaughlin is the Chief Nurse Executive and Vice President of Patient Care Services for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Maribeth McLaughlin leads nursing strategy for UPMC’s 23,000 nurses and oversees nursing standards and clinical practice across 40 hospitals, 700 ambulatory sites, and all divisions of the UPMC health system. She directs efforts in nursing practice optimization, clinical informatics, professional development, care coordination, patient experience, and system-wide staffing and operations. She also leads UPMC’s nursing and Allied Health pipeline initiatives, including oversight of the seven UPMC Schools of Nursing. With over 35 years of progressive leadership experience, Maribeth previously served as Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Officer at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. She also held the role of Vice President of the Women’s Health Service Line, overseeing women’s health and newborn services. Nationally, she served as chair of the AHA Maternal Child Health Council and President of CWISH (Council of Women, Infant Specialty Hospitals). She currently serves on the boards of Family House, Carlow University, and The Beckwith Institute. Ms. McLauglin earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University and a Master of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
