PhD, APRN-CNS
Department Chair
Rush University College of Nursing
Lynn Mohr, Department Chair, Rush University College of Nursing, is an experienced pediatric clinical nurse specialist (CNS) whose work focuses on ostomy care for adolescents, a particularly vulnerable population. Her groundbreaking research examines how teens adapt to life after stoma surgery, including the challenging decision of whether to disclose their ostomy to others. This foundational work directly informed the creation of online and print resources that provide teens worldwide with essential ostomy self-care guidance, as well as her instrumental role in developing a consumer pediatric digital platform for children and adolescents with an ostomy. The digital accessibility of Dr. Mohr's educational materials has revolutionized adolescent ostomy care globally, reaching young patients across continents who previously had limited access to age-appropriate support resources. These digital resources deliver life-changing guidance directly to adolescents navigating this complex medical journey, dramatically expanding the reach of specialized pediatric ostomy care worldwide. Throughout her career, Dr. Mohr has contributed to advancing pediatric care through national service with the Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOCN) Society, Society of Pediatric Nursing (SPN), and National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS). Her educational leadership work embedded within doctoral CNS programs highlights the impact and influence of CNS-led pediatric interventions. Dr. Mohr received her diploma in nursing from St. Luke's School of Nursing, BSN from South Dakota State University, MS from the University of Kansas, and her PhD from Rush University.
