Lisa Duffy

Lisa Duffy is an Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, jointly appointed in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing and the Institute for Applied Life Sciences. She also maintains a clinical position as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her research centers on improving virtual care delivery and health outcomes for young adults with chronic conditions through therapeutic relational connection (TRC). Dr. Duffy has led multiple funded studies, including work developing a mobile health application and an online decision support tool for adolescents with pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis. She is nationally recognized for her contributions to digital health innovation, relationship-centered care, and health equity. Her work has been published in leading nursing and telehealth journals and presented at national and international conferences. A former Betty Irene Moore Fellow for Nurse Leaders and Innovators, she continues to advance nursing science through interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate nursing, technology, and patient engagement. Dr. Duffy holds a PhD in Nursing from Boston College, an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness from Harvard University, and board certification as both a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Multiple Sclerosis Nurse.
