Linda Wesp is an Assistant Professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing. Dr. Wesp is a nationally recognized nurse scientist and advanced practice nurse whose clinical, research, and policy work has advanced health equity for transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive populations. Her research focuses on community-driven interventions to improve health outcomes, cultural safety in clinical practice, and policy change. She is one of the only nurses to co-author two of the most widely used gender-affirming care clinical guidelines, and her contributions helped pioneer the first national and international evidence-based preventive care recommendations for transgender populations. Her expert testimony was cited in a 2019 court ruling that expanded Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care in Wisconsin. Dr. Wesp has organized national conferences, educated thousands of providers, and co-edited one of the first textbooks on cultural safety in LGBTQIA+ health. She was guest editor for special issues on transgender health in Nursing Outlook and Nursing Clinics of North America. Through her sustained scholarship and advocacy, Dr. Wesp brings nursing expertise to transgender health and promotes ethical, gender-affirming care in nursing. Dr. Wesp earned her BSN from Loyola University Chicago, MSN from University of Illinois Chicago, and PhD from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
