Linda Gibson-Young is a nurse clinician, educator, and researcher with over 27 years of experience advancing child and family health in rural southeastern communities, with a strong focus on asthma management. My program of research centers on improving asthma outcomes for children and families, particularly in underserved rural settings. As a registered nurse, nurse educator, and family nurse practitioner, I have led school-, clinic-, and camp-based interventions for children aged 7-12 years, integrating evidence-based asthma education and care. Our team manages outreach initiatives through Auburn University College of Nursing, partnering with local communities to address social determinants of health impacting asthma care. I have extensive experience working with community health workers (CHWs) in multiple states, including recruitment, training, and supervision, to deliver culturally relevant, accessible asthma interventions. We leverage expertise in community health engagement, asthma education, and CHW integration to foster trust with local populations, enhance health literacy, and improve access to care. We provide effective program delivery, rigorous data collection, and the development of sustainable, community-driven solutions to reduce asthma disparities across Alabama. Dr. Gibson-Young earned a MBA from Auburn University and her MSN and PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
