Lina Najib Kawar is the Regional Director for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Program for Southern California and Hawaii Markets and Co-Chair for the National Nursing Research/EBP Council Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Kawar serves as the research/EBP lead and senior nurse scientist for the organization, where she is impacting over 38,000 SCAL/HI and 73,618 nationally nurses. Dr. Kawar’s seminal contributions of leading multisite/multisystem/interregional studies related to patient outcomes have improved 4.8-million members/patients’ experience. She is also leading studies targeting the quadruple aim towards a healthy work environment. Her contribution to addressing equity, diversity, and inclusivity threads through accessibility to all people, advancing evidence-informed health and wellness, and increasing investments in research and Scientific careers. Her scalable impact stems from her multidimensional work including promoting nursing excellence, the nurse scientist role, and her bilingual/bicultural background. Internationally, Dr. Kawar’s groundbreaking research and dissertation work among Arab immigrant-women to alleviate disparities has paved the way to other researchers towards further research among this unique population. Her research findings influenced Arab/Jordanian women breast cancer screening recommendations and practices also advocated to adding Middle Eastern category to the US census in 2024. Dr. Kawar holds a PhD from University of Rochester, a MSN from George Mason University, and BSN/Midwifery from the University of Jordan.
