Leon Chen is an Associate Professor at Columbia University School of Nursing and a board-certified Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in critical care medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a vocal proponent of point-of-care ultrasonography in critical care, Dr. Chen has trained hundreds of Advanced Practice Providers, Nurse Practitioner students, and Nurse Anesthetist students in the application of bedside ultrasound for managing critically ill patients. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts on critical care topics. Dr. Chen serves on the Critical Care Nursing Quarterly editorial board and holds an Associate Editor position at the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and currently serves as Vice Chair of its Accreditation and Learning Committee, where his leadership helps shape critical care education for clinicians nationwide. Dr. Chen earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University and holds both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University.
