Komkwuan Paruchabutr is an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University, School of Nursing and President of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health. Dr. Paruchabutr focuses on academic, advocacy, and policy initiatives for women’s health and advanced nursing education. She holds triple board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Nurse-Midwife. She is a nationally recognized advocate for women’s health nurse practitioners and advanced practice nurses in women’s health. She has contributed to high-impact policy efforts including amicus briefs, testimony before federal agencies, and national campaigns to protect scope of practice rights and increase access to reproductive healthcare. She has served on the steering committee of the NIH and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation: Women’s Health Research and Development Innovation Equity Forum and her FDA testimony helped secure approval of the first over-the-counter oral contraceptive in the U.S. Her leadership on multidisciplinary task forces and working groups continues to advance sex and gender-responsive, equitable healthcare delivery. Dr. Paruchabutr earned her BSN from Syracuse University, MSN from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a post-master’s certificate in midwifery from the University of Kansas, and her DNP from Frontier Nursing University.
