Kelly Foltz-Ramos is the Director of Simulation and Innovation and an Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo School of Nursing. She leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of immersive simulation-based education, including virtual reality and AI-enhanced tools. Dr. Foltz-Ramos is principal investigator of REACHvr, an initiative preparing nursing students to care for individuals in rural and underserved settings using virtual reality and community-informed education. Her research focuses on teamwork, communication, and simulation methodologies to advance health equity and nursing education. She has received international funding to study empathy and social justice through virtual simulation and presents her work at leading simulation and nursing education conferences. Dr. Foltz-Ramos is an active leader within the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), currently serving as Chair of the Research Special Interest Group. She began her career as a registered nurse and corporate nurse educator before transitioning to academia in 2008. Her work is grounded in a commitment to innovative, evidence-based approaches to prepare the nursing workforce. Dr. Foltz-Ramos earned her BSN from Daemen University and her MS in Family Nursing, Advanced Certificate in Educational Technology and New Literacies, and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University at Buffalo.
