Julie Manz is a pioneering nurse scientist whose Creighton-Simulation Evaluation Instrument© (CSEI), Creighton-Competency Evaluation Instrument© (CCEI), and CCEI 2.0© have transformed nursing education globally. These psychometrically sound tools, adopted in over 30 countries and cited in 350+ publications, set the standard for objective competency assessment, notably in the NCSBN’s National Simulation Study, shaping policies on clinical simulation. Her work, downloaded over 1,000 times, supports the shift to competency-based education, ensuring practice-ready nurses. Dr. Manz’s CCEI 2.0 aligns with AACN Essentials (2021) and NCSBN’s Clinical Judgment Model, earning recognition as a 2023-2024 Article of Influence. Her leadership extends to interprofessional education, mentoring the development of the Creighton Interprofessional Collaborative Evaluation (CICE). As a Nebraska Assembly of Nursing Deans and Directors officer, she influenced temporary licensure policies during COVID-19, supporting workforce capacity. Dr. Manz co-directed a 15-week vaccination clinic, serving 42,000 residents, earning accolades from the March of Dimes and others. Her ongoing work on a CCEI companion software platform enhances competency tracking, advancing the American Academy of Nursing’s mission of improving health through innovation and policy. Dr. Manz holds a PhD from South Dakota State University, and MS and BSN from Creighton University.
