Juan M. Gonzalez is a Professor of Clinical and Director of the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program at the University of Miami. A nationally and internationally recognized nurse educator and clinical leader, Dr. Gonzalez has made significant contributions to advanced practice nursing education, workforce development, and global health. His leadership has expanded NP education pathways by over 50%, while maintaining a 100% certification pass rate. He has served as co-investigator and mentor on more than $7 million in HRSA-funded grants, supporting over 200 graduate students, including 45 from disadvantaged or minority backgrounds. His global impact includes leading nurse-led healthcare missions across Latin America and the Caribbean, providing care to more than 4,000 patients and advancing culturally competent care. He has trained hundreds of providers through faculty development programs, interdisciplinary projects, and an internationally recognized ultrasound course. His scholarship includes 58 peer-reviewed publications, three editorial board memberships, and a guest editorship for BMC Nursing. Dr. Gonzalez also contributed to Living Without Itch (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2025), a patient-centered resource on eczema care. He holds a BSN, MSN, and DNP from Barry University and a PhD in Nursing Science with a focus on health equity and emergency care.
