Joy Parchment is an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida College of Nursing. As a nurse leader and academic, Dr. Parchment focuses on transforming nursing practices and fostering an exemplary culture through initiatives that emphasize inclusive excellence, leadership development, and leadership science research. Her groundbreaking work, cited in numerous national and international publications, identified role-based and environmental factors contributing to workplace bullying among nurse managers; she implemented governance programs that empowered decision-making for over 1,200 clinical nurses at a multi-hospital system; and designed a comprehensive evidence-based eManual to support nurse manager role transition, equipping them to build their leadership capabilities. She serves as the Academic Commissioner on the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Magnet® to inform future nursing excellence standards and align them with workforce demands; is a member of the Association of Leadership Science Nursing Research Committee where she develops and advances nursing leadership science research priorities; and previously served as the Region 4 Director for the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Board where she influenced the national nursing leadership agenda. Dr. Parchment earned her BSN from Andrews University, her MSN from Anna Maria College, and her PhD from the University of Central Florida.
