Jenny Alderden is an Associate Professor at Boise State University and an internationally recognized expert in pressure injury prevention. Her comprehensive research program has established foundational evidence for current international practice guidelines through large-scale clinical trials and innovative data-driven assessment methods. Dr. Alderden's groundbreaking work established new evidence-based standards that improve quality of life for nursing home residents. She pioneered responsible artificial intelligence implementation in healthcare, developing transparent AI frameworks for pressure injury risk prediction that augment rather than replace clinical expertise. Her leadership extends to chairing the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel Collaborating Organizations Council, directing educational programs reaching over 50,000 clinicians annually. Currently serving as site PI for NIH-funded clinical trials, Dr. Alderden advances health equity by implementing sub-epidermal moisture scanning technology that identifies pressure injuries 5 days earlier in patients with darker skin tones. Her work spans from her early deployment as head nurse for a shock trauma platoon in Al Anbar, Iraq, through her contributions to international clinical guidelines, including the 2025 International Pressure Injury Clinical Guidelines and the 2024 Clinical Guidelines of the Wound Healing Society. Dr. Alderdean holds a PhD from the University of Utah, a MSN from the University of Washington, and a BSN from the Universiyt of Illinois.
