Hong Xu is the Director of the Institute of Health and Nursing at Hangzhou Normal University. Her main contribution is that she is the first to establish the Institute of Health and Nursing in response to the current situation of China's aging and regional needs, and the first to cooperate with the government to build a platform which cultivates cooperation at the regional and national levels in the areas of school-government, school-university and school-enterprise. She has also been instrumental in building a school-government-enterprise three-chain synergistic model for training geriatric nursing personnel. During the past 15 years, along with her team, she has trained more than 400,000 elderly care personnel at all levels from the region and across the country, and has initiated a series of teaching materials and national, provincial and municipal standards for elderly care, forming a replicable practice example. Professor Xu holds a MPA from Zhejiang Administrative College, a BSN from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. As a specially recruited expert of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, she has participated in serving the national strategy and policy formulation.
