Hayley Estrem is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington School of Nursing. She studies child and family-centered care for pediatric feeding disorder (PFD). The goal of her research program is to develop a knowledge base about this complex developmental issue to improve assessment and treatment. She uses multimethod approaches and has experience with concept analyses, measure development, mixed-methods design, and family nursing. She has developed studies that are meaningful for the experiential expert. She has a history of working successfully with the Feeding Flock Team in tool development and those tools are used by clinicians and researchers around the world. She also collaborates with interdisciplinary researchers and clinicians in the feeding field, namely the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Center for Advanced Pediatrics Feeding Disorder and Food Allergy clinics, and with Feeding Matters, a parent-initiated advocacy non-profit organization. Dr. Estrem holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a MSN in Nursing Education from Duke University, and a BSN from Truman State University.
