Gordon West is an Assistant Professor at Pacific Lutheran University School of Nursing. Dr. West's research focuses on interventions to address infection prevention and control efforts within the healthcare settings. He has served as the principal investigator of eight research studies and as an associate investigator/mentor on another four studies. Findings from his work have impacted policy, whereby three hospitals changed their patient care uniform and disinfectant policies. These findings were shared with the Defense Health Agency, impacting practice worldwide. He is currently serving as a mentor on a funded study to assess the effectiveness of this intervention in a military field hospital setting as well as in air evacuation and ground transportation platforms. He has served in the United States Army Nurse Corps for over 22 years – LTC(ret). Dr. West has over 20 publications related to this work. He is currently the chair-elect of the local chapter of his state nursing organization. He also serves as an elected research representative to the professional nursing and healthcare council within the Washington State Nurses Association. Dr. West received his BSN from McMurry University, his MHA from Baylor University, and his PhD from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
