Gee Su Yang

Gee Su Yang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. Dr. Yang is recognized for her research in cancer survivorship, particularly in addressing cognitive impairment, sleep disturbances, pain, fatigue, and depressive symptoms, as well as symptom management strategies using multi-omics approaches. She has led numerous research studies funded by the NIH, foundations, and the University focused on the adverse toxicities and symptoms of cancer treatment and has actively engaged with cancer survivors, oncologists, and community partners to enhance research participation and promote education on cancer survivorship. Her work pioneered investigations into the adverse effects and symptoms of emerging treatments, such as immunotherapy and targeted therapy, as well as their behavioral and gut mechanisms in the precision health symptom science field. She was a Heilbrunn Nurse Scholar and the NIA Butler-Williams Scholar. Dr. Yang has also been tapped to serve as a review panelist for NIH study sections, the Oncology Nursing Foundation, University of Connecticut Research Excellence Program, and more. Dr. Yang received her BSN and MS from Seoul National University in South Korea, her PhD from the University of Maryland Baltimore, and her Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Florida.
