Esther Chipps holds a joint appointment as a Clinical Nurse Scientist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University College of Nursing. She has devoted her research career to nursing leadership science and developing a nursing workforce competent in knowledge generation and translation. She is dedicated to mentoring clinicians in conducting and disseminating research that delivers evidence-based solutions driving patient care innovations and leadership decisions. Dr. Chipps’ research intersects practice and academia, addressing workplace safety, nursing workforce issues, care delivery models, and the impact of nursing leadership. Her contributions include a national Delphi study defining nursing leadership science research priorities and co-development of the Nursing Leadership and Systems Science Model. Dr Chipps is founder and co-chair of the Sigma Theta Tau International Health System Nurse Scientist Collaborative. Her work highlights the role of the health system-based nurse scientist and their contributions to health systems and academic-practice partnerships. She has held many leadership positions and serves on numerous boards/committees including the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership. Dr. Chipps earned her PhD and MS in Nursing from Ohio State University and BSN from Columbia University.
