Erica Liebermann

Erica Liebermann is Assistant Professor at University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, a practicing women’s health nurse practitioner, and a multilingual health services researcher and global women’s health expert. Dr. Liebermann’s research focuses on nurse-driven and other innovative strategies to promote access to preventive women’s healthcare, particularly to reduce barriers to HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening and follow-up. She leads an AHRQ-funded R03 to understand college health provider attitudes and practices regarding HPV vaccine. As a fellow in the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators, she leads a study to pilot a nurse-led and community health worker-delivered patient education intervention to introduce patient-collected HPV testing for cervical cancer screening in a community clinic in Rhode Island. Globally, Dr. Liebermann works to build nursing and health workforce capacity for cervical cancer screening and treatment and to promote nurse leadership in cervical cancer elimination efforts. Dr. Liebermann completed a BA in Sociology and Spanish at Georgetown University, a BSN at University of Massachusetts-Amherst, an MSN from MGH Institute of Health Professions and a PhD from New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Population Health Sciences at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
