Associate Professor

University of Washington School of Nursing

Eeeseung Byun is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Nursing. She holds the Harborview Medical Center Endowed Professorship in Critical Care. Dr. Byun’s research focuses on the development of knowledge- and technology-based interventions related to symptom management in stroke survivors and their caregivers. Currently, she is leading the development and testing of novel, scalable, technology-based interventions to improve symptom self-management for SAH survivors experiencing sleep disturbances. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the John A. Hartford Foundation, and the Neuroscience Nursing Foundation. Dr. Byun has a clinical background in neurocritical care. Her research and clinical experiences have fueled her commitment to improving the health and quality of life of individuals with stroke and their family members. Dr. Byun received her BSN from Ewha Womans University, her MSN and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
