David House is an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing and Specialty Track Co-coordinator for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. A national expert in emergency and advanced practice nursing, Dr. House brings over two decades of clinical, academic, and organizational leadership experience shaping the future of nursing education and practice. He has led transformative initiatives and served in key roles within four national organizations, including the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and the Emergency Nurses Association, resulting in the development of unified Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) competencies, endorsed by multiple national bodies, now serving as the gold standard for over 29,000 ENPs nationwide. Dr. House’s leadership has driven certification and curriculum standards, expanded access to high-quality education, and supported competency-based nursing practice nationwide. His interprofessional collaboration with national organizations has contributed significantly to policy and workforce development. A passionate advocate for nursing excellence, Dr. House continues to mentor future leaders and advance educational innovation. Dr. House received his DNP from Vanderbilt University, MSN from The University of Texas Houston, and BSN from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
