Cassandra Vonnes

Cassandra Vonnes is a consultant for the development of geriatric education across various learning environments, including New York University, Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Dr. Vonnes is a certified Gerontological and Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner and a Fellow of the American Heart Association and the American Geriatric Society. She serves on the national Nurse Leadership Board of AARP, the Board of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology, and the Aging Policy Committee of the American Geriatric Society. Her previous role included leading Moffitt Cancer Center to become the first hospital in Florida and the first cancer center in the U.S. to be recognized by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement as an Age-Friendly Health System Committed to Care Excellence for the Older Adult. She has presented nationally and internationally on fall and injury prevention, delirium, and geriatric assessment. Dr. Vonnes hosts the podcast GAPNA CHAT, featuring leaders in Geriatric Health Care. Her accolades include the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association Excellence in Leadership Award, the Oncology Nurses Society Excellence in Care for the Older Adult with Cancer, and recognition as a Hartford Distinguished Educator in Geriatric Nursing. Dr. Vonnes earned her DNP, MS, and BS from the University of South Florida.
