Brayden Kameg

Assistant Professor of Nursing

University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing

Brayden Kameg currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Department of Health and Community Systems at University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, where she coordinates the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) program. She currently teaches across undergraduate and graduate programs. Her primary teaching responsibilities include substance use management, child/adolescent psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and psychiatric management in primary care. Dr. Kameg’s academic interests include integrating substance use and mental-health-related competencies across undergraduate and graduate programs. She has received extramural funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This funding has supported her work, which seeks to improve the ability of both nurses and nurse practitioners to meet the mental and behavioral healthcare needs of the populations that they serve. Clinically, Dr. Kameg is co-founder and co-owner of a private practice, Peace of Mind Psychiatry, where she treats patients across the lifespan. She is the founding program director of a PMHNP residency program at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Healthcare System, where she sees patients on an inpatient basis and in the addiction psychiatry program. Dr. Kameg holds a PhD, DNP and BSN from the Univerity of Pittsburgh.
