Bevin Cohen is the Senior Director of the Center for Nursing Research and Innovation, an Associate Professor in the Brookdale Department of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, and an IRB Chair in the Program for the Protection of Human Subjects at the Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Cohen’s research supports clinical nursing practice across a range of specialties. As principal and co-investigator of grants funded by NIH, AHRQ, HRSA, and philanthropic foundations, much of her work has addressed infection prevention and control and ethical care and decision making for patients near the end of life. Beyond her individual programs of research, Dr. Cohen has dedicated her professional efforts to maximizing the impact of nurse researchers employed in the practice setting. She received a grant from AHRQ to host the first national conference exploring the challenges, opportunities, and value of this role. Dr. Cohen also develops and teaches courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health in settings that prioritize non-traditional students and democratize academic engagement. Dr. Cohen received a BA in Public Health from the University of Vermont and an MS in Nursing, MPH in Epidemiology, and PhD in Epidemiology from Columbia University.
