Annamaria Bagnasco

Annamaria Bagnasco is a Full Professor of Nursing at the University of Genoa, Italy. Dr. Bagnasco leads the Doctoral Course in Nursing of the Doctoral School of Health Sciences and also is President of the postgraduate Master Course in Family & Community Nursing at the University of Genoa. She is a leading figure in nursing outcomes and health policy research in Italy. As a senior researcher, she has led national studies demonstrating the critical role of nursing in patient outcomes across home care, acute hospitals, and pediatric settings. Her team adapted and validated international instruments for the Italian context, including tools for measuring missed care, nurse workload, and work environments. Her research has produced the first Italian data linking poor nurse staffing and work conditions to missed care, lower patient satisfaction, and higher mortality—findings with major implications for national workforce policy. Dr. Bagnasco is a leading nurse academic with a 15-year record of high-quality research and author of over 200 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, and several books. She also has a strong international profile and presented over 50 peer reviewed papers at national and international conferences. She is a leader and co-investigator of over 15 national and international nursing research projects including and particularly renowned for co-leading the RN4CAST study in Italy. She also served as National Coordinator of the Multicenter Project Nurse Wellbeing and Safe Staffing in Hospitals. She is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Center of Excellence for Research and Development of Nursing CERSI, a body of the National Federation of Orders of the Nursing Professions (FNOPI). Dr. Bagnasco holds a PhD and MSN from the University of Genoa.
