Jerry Ouner

Dr. Jerry John Ouner is an associate professor at University of California, San Francisco. He is one of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing representatives to the United Nations.

He is the founder and secretary general of Africa Interdisciplinary Health Conference, an annual international conference that promotes evidence-based practices related to the health sector in Africa.

Dr. Ouner’s research interests are in maternal and child health. He is interested in understanding the impact of environmental, social and economic factors on the health of women and children with particular focus on HIV/AIDS in low resource countries and among minority populations in the United States. He has published extensively in these areas of research. He mentors nurses and other health care professionals across multiple countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

 

Dr. Ouner was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in 2023. He is a Carnegie African Diasporan Scholar.

Dr. Ouner obtained PhD in Nursing from Drexel University and a postdoctoral training in Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University. He holds Masters in Nursing and Health-Care Leadership, a degree he obtained from University of California, Davis. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Cape Coast.
