Tina R. Sadarangani

Tina R. Sadarangani is an Assistant Professor, cross-appointed at the New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing and Grossman School of Medicine. She is a nurse practitioner and leading researcher leveraging science and policy to support just standards of care for marginalized older adults. Her research reconceptualizes adult day centers as nurse-led platforms for chronic disease management and informs policies that better resource centers to support vulnerable older adults. Her science has unveiled racial disparities in nutrition and other social determinants of health among minoritized adults attending day centers. Her advocacy efforts have supported reevaluations of inequitable policies governing nutrition in adult day centers by the USDA. She is also an innovator whose NIH-funded research led to the development of, CareMobi, a widely available mobile application that integrates information from family caregivers, day centers and other community-based care sites. Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals across multiple disciplines and her insights on the needs of family caregivers regularly receive coverage from national media. Dr. Sadarangani received her BA in Anthropology (Summa Cum Laude) from Georgetown University, her BSN and PhD from New York University where she was PhD valedictorian, and her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania.
