Tavell L. Kindall

Tavell L. Kindall is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and nationally recognized clinician, educator, speaker, nurse regulator, and HIV prevention and treatment expert impacting thousands of patients and health professionals through his expertise and contributions to clinical practice, education, and health policy. He currently serves as the Director of HIV Prevention and Treatment at St. Thomas Community Health Center in New Orleans, LA. He oversees the provision of clinical services related to HIV prevention, HIV primary care, sexually transmitted infections, latent tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis. He is a credentialed HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine and an Advanced HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse by the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board. Dr. Kindall is the first African American male professional nurse to be appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) and the first to serve as President. Currently, he serves as the Clinical Director of the South Central AIDS Education and Training Center within the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Public Health and the Chair of the Louisiana Commission on HIV and Hepatitis C Education, Prevention, and Treatment. He is an inaugural distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (FADLN) and a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP).
