Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham

Trinity Western University School of Nursing

Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham has made a career of contributing to the improvement of health and healthcare through nursing, from her local context as professor and dean at Trinity Western University through to her high-impact, international program of research. She is recognized as among the world’s leading scholars on religious, spiritual, and cultural plurality in healthcare, and her scholarly contributions are internationally recognized as having shaped the landscape of critical theorizing in nursing related to social justice, health equity, and human rights. By invitation of the UN Independent Expert on albinism, she leads an international research-advocacy-policy network to foster the human rights of mothers impacted by albinism. In addition to her vibrant and impactful program of research, Dr. Reimer-Kirkham is an influential nurse leader and educator at locally, nationally and internationally, and has led the development of innovative MSN and PhD Nursing programs. Dr. Reimer-Kirkham completed a RN Diploma at Grace General Hospital, Winnipeg; a BSN from University of Victoria; and her MSN and PhD degrees from the University of British Columbia.
