Shefaly Shorey

Shefaly Shorey is an Associate Professor with tenure at Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. Her research program focuses on enhancing family and women’s health. She has designed psychosocial educational interventions for various populations and has published more than 220 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact factor journals. Dr. Shorey is an elected Chair for the Southeast and East Asian Nursing Education and Research Network (SEANERN) and the executive member of the Global Working Group (GWG) on Salutogenesis. She is the only nurse researcher who has received a US-ASEAN Fulbright scholarship in 2022 to explore diversity, inclusivity, and equity among female academics. Dr. Shorey’s research has been regularly published in National Newspapers and broadcasted via Television and Radio Channels. Dr. Shorey is an experienced and award-winning educator who believes in lifelong learning and adopts a student-centered evidence-based approach to facilitate students’ learning. Dr. Shorey has supervised over 70 research students and examined over 50 research theses. She is a visiting professor at Chiang Mai University, Thailand, and the International Islamic University Malaysia. Dr. Shorey has received various awards for her academic and research excellence. Recently, she was awarded the President Nurse Award 2021, the highest nursing accolade for Singapore nursing, and the NMRC HPHSR Clinician Scientist Award (Senior Category) 2023.
