Samantha Stonbraker, PhD, MPH, RN is an Assistant Professor on the tenure-track at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. Dr. Stonbraker’s research focuses on generating and evaluating digital interventions to enhance treatment and prevention of HIV among populations experiencing vulnerability locally and globally. She works in diverse multicultural and multilingual settings, especially where resources are limited, such as in the Dominican Republic (DR). Over the course of her career, Dr. Stonbraker has developed and evaluated several interventions that have been implemented at the point of care, especially at her primary research site in the DR. Currently, she is finishing her K99/R00 award which resulted in a trilingual substitutable medical application and reusable technology (SMART) application that interfaces with electronic health records through the fast healthcare interoperability resource (FHIR) and offers a database of evidence-based infographics to facilitate HIV-related clinical communication. Dr. Stonbraker is also an MPI on two NIMH-funded studies (R21MH132421, R34MH136932) that aim to augment HIV prevention among transgender women. Dr. Stonbraker received a BA in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a MPH from Boston University School of Public Health, and a BS and PhD from Columbia University School of Nursing.
