As a nurse researcher and leader, Reimund Serafica’s primary contributions address the healthcare needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander populations, catalyzing substantial and impactful transformations. Through a steadfast commitment to investigating health disparities, he has assumed pivotal roles such as Co-Director and Co-Investigator of the Mountain West (MW) Center of Translational Research Infrastructure Network (CTR-IN) in Community Engagement and Outreach (CEO). With a budget of $23 million from NGIMS and NIH, his impact lies in fostering collaborative partnerships that harness the expertise and resources of all participating institutions to advance health equity and mitigate disparities. CTR-IN has funded over 129 pilot and multisite grants, aiding faculty in clinical and translational research to enhance their competitiveness for extramural funding, aiming to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Furthermore, Dr. Serafica has advocated for increased funding for community-based participatory research and supported essential collaboration for successful projects. He has established a nurse-driven Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) in Nevada, with plans to expand across MW states. Dr. Serafica also serves as a tenured associate professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and practices as a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at an outpatient clinic in Las Vegas. Dr. Serafica holds a PhD from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, an MSN, and undergraduate degrees from Gardner-Webb University and a post-master's certificate from the University of Nevada, Reno.
