Nancy C. Banasiak is the Wendy U. and Thomas C. Naratil Professor of Nursing and director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Specialty at Yale University School of Nursing. Dr. Banasiak’s most important contribution to nursing centers around translating and disseminating evidence-based information and advancing equitable healthcare for children with asthma in underserved communities. Based on her expertise in asthma, Dr. Banasiak was called upon to shape practice and address inconsistencies in asthma care throughout the regional healthcare system. Current evidence was used to redesign clinical pathways by developing a more equitable, single standard of care. This innovation has been disseminated nationally and internationally through presentations and journal articles. Dr. Banasiak serves as a faculty member at Yale School of Nursing and practices at Thames River School Based Health Center. She plays a pivotal role in educating APRN students on holistic asthma care, enabling them to effectively manage asthma in diverse settings nationwide. Dr. Banasiak is member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and has served on its executive board. Dr. Banasiak earned her BSN from Anna Maria College and her MSN and DNP from The Catholic University of America School of Nursing.
