Nancy A. Allen is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing. As an advanced practice nurse scientist, Dr. Allen conducts impactful research that has advanced our understanding of the social context of diabetes management in vulnerable populations. This work has led to the optimization of diabetes to improve health behaviors and reduce health disparities. Dr. Allen has disseminated her work widely, leading to changes in the clinical discourse on using diabetes technology in vulnerable populations and accelerating transformations in diabetes care with effective clinical interventions. As a leader of nursing workforce development programs, she advances innovative strategies to educate and diversify the state workforce with programs demonstrating potential for scalability. Dr. Allen received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts and her Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Self-Management of Patients and Families with Chronic Diseases in Vulnerable Populations at Yale University.
