Michael L. Jones is the Associate Dean for Culture, Engagement, & Professional Development for the East Carolina University College of Nursing. Dr. Jones is the Inaugural Associate Dean for Culture, Engagement, and Professional Development and Clinical Associate Professor for the East Carolina University (ECU) College of Nursing. Dr. Jones is responsible for creating a culture of inclusivity and belonging for the ECU College of Nursing students, faculty, staff, ECU campus community and external partners. Additionally, Dr. Jones is responsible for and leads activities to ensure faculty and staff have the tools necessary to ensure positive student outcomes. In his 24 years in Nursing, Dr. Jones has worked tirelessly to address health disparities and inequities for underrepresented populations, which includes his many years of service in the Mississippi Delta where he led several research and programmatic initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Jones has worked to improve access to nursing education and student success for underrepresented populations. Dr. Jones earned his BSN and MSN from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the Hampton University School of Nursing.
