Meriam Caboral-Stevens is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing and Affiliate Faculty at the Center for Health Disparities Innovations and Studies at Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Caboral-Stevens’ considered her involvement with addressing the health of Asian Americans as her significant contribution. She utilizes community-based approach to identify and develop culturally tailored interventions for the community. Michigan Health Endowment funded her to train Asian American health coaches to be socially-embedded support on physical activity with older adults. She also worked with the Filipino community during COVID-19 pandemic. She was involved in identifying the first Filipino trained CMS navigators, and is currently working on a project funded by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation that determines the impact of caregiving among older informal caregivers in Michigan. Dr. Caboral-Stevens serves as President Elect to the Philippine Nurses Association of Michigan, Secretary to the Filipino American Community Council of Michigan, and member of the National Federation of Filipino American Association of Michigan. Dr. Caboral-Stevens received her BSN at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, her MS and Adult Nurse Practitioner degree at Molloy College and her PhD in Nursing at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
