Lorie Donelle

PhD, RN, FCAN
Emily Myrtle Smith Endowed Professor of Nursing
University of South Carolina College of Nursing

Lorie Donelle conducts equity-oriented research framed by the multiple determinants of health to generate new knowledge that influences home healthcare practices, policy, and digital health development. The context of this work is situated locally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Donelle's investigation of remote monitoring and 'point-of-care' technologies on homecare practices and client-centered care of older adults and their family caregivers resulted in new standards of end-of-life care and novel clinical homecare practices that support older adults to safely remain in their homes and avoid or delay higher levels of care. Other pragmatic applications of her research findings include the development of a community-based digital literacy education hub accessible to marginalized women. Research with Rwandan colleagues supported the knowledge and skill development of over 5,000 community health workers to improve maternal health care across Rwanda.
